status: Completed Summer 2024
Alpha/Sigma proudly presents its second completed residential building development in the southern Athens suburb of Glyfada. Varasovas 58 architectural façade successfully balances the elements of transparency and opaqueness throughout its 5-story height. What was important to us here was the overall monolithic, white element that runs through the main facade combined with the concept of a one-sided “wrap” that gives the building a more dramatic, imposing character. When viewed from an angle, the building volume clearly expresses an architectural ambition and a robust design gesture.

The play of multiple levels becomes particularly obvious through the interchange of light and shadows. The main core of the building is fully wrapped by a clean white plaster-coated surface, while the sleek diagonal geometry translates into a design statement. The prime building volume and the balconies remain in the background. Overall, the design is characterized by clear geometries highlighting the materials, mainly in the common areas of the building complex. On the top floor sits a luxurious maisonette extending to the pergola-covered roof that benefits from an unlimited view.
